THE BLISS PROJECT
The Bliss Project is a series of three monumental sculptures ranging in size from 40 to 55 feet in height. Marco worked with singer/dancer Deja Solis as a collaborator and model, along with hundreds of volunteers, to create the series. Each sculpture is constructed of welded steel rods and balls, covered in stainless steel mesh skin with interactive lighting effects.
Bliss Dance, the first in the series, debuted at Burning Man 2010. She was next installed on Treasure Island in San Francisco from 2011-15, before finding a permanent home at The Park, Las Vegas.
Next came Truth is Beauty, debuting at Burning Man 2013, now permanently installed at the San Leandro Tech Campus in San Leandro, CA.
The final sculpture in the series, R-Evolution, made her first appearance at Burning Man in 2015. She is currently installed outside of Marco’s studio in Petaluma, CA.
The Bliss Project was made possible by a large community of support who helped with both funding and creation to achieve our goals to:
Express appreciation and respect for feminine energy and the power that results when women feel free and safe.
Create magnificent sculptures that are as strong as the steel from which they are are constructed, yet appear human, beautiful, and alive.
Generate an environment where people can participate in a community dedicated to ending violence against women.
